Challenge

Wärtsilä was an early adopter of AI for decision-support. The engaged XR to help automate the complicated process of selling marine engines and other energy products. It takes time, effort and expertise to agree on all the details with a client in order to produce a quote.

 

Solution

Wärtsilä developed a configurator that helps automate the internal order processing to ensure supply of products and components. Any quote can be picked up and updated to accommodate customers who have taken a long time to make a purchasing decision.

 

Results

A Bill of Materials (BoM) is produced from which the product can be priced, and a quote prepared. Leveraging XpertRule in the sales process has significantly reduced the time that it takes to produce quotes for customers, cutting the process time from days to a matter of hours.
