Last week we’ve seen global leaders converge in Glasgow to attend COP26, launching two weeks of negotiations on how to best tackle the climate change crisis. The urgency and challenge that lies ahead is eloquently articulated in Sir David Attenborough’s keynote speech, where he calls for a new industrial revolution, powered by a million sustainable innovations. The stability of the earth’s climate has enabled civilization to flourish but cannot be taken for granted—which is why lowering carbon emissions is so important. What has become clear is that everyone has a part to play in this new Green Industrial Revolution.
At XpertRule we’re looking to do our part by empowering sustainable manufacturing through our XpertFactory software. That’s why we’re thrilled to be working with Booth Welsh, a partnership that will help organizations reduce carbon emissions and move towards cleaner and more sustainable manufacturing, all made possible through AI-enabled technologies.
The partnership will see XpertRule collaborate with Booth Welsh to transform manufacturing operations by capturing data from sensors, actuators, control models, the shop floor and throughout the supply chain, to help streamline efficiencies. The implications are powerful and straightforward:
The key here is turning data in actionable outcomes. Leveraging XpertFactory software, companies can modernize and optimize resources while supporting the transition to Net Zero. Our software incorporates multiple AI capabilities, including applying machine learning to digitally capture human expertise and improve any manufacturing process. By being able to digitally capture, streamline and audit the decision-making process manufacturers can improve overall efficiencies while lowering their carbon footprint.
Environment 4.0 Support
The “big picture” consequences of this partnership centre around Booth Welsh’s Environment 4.0 initiative. Both companies share a common vision, which is to help the manufacturing sector transition to becoming a more sustainable business. Booth Welsh is working with XpertRule to help bring key technologies to market that address environmental challenges by providing businesses with long-lasting solutions and tools to mitigate emissions, save energy, resources, money, time, and wastage. In this way, XpertRule becomes part of Booth Welsh’s ecosystem of partners delivering Environment 4.0 capabilities.
This takes us to the 5Ps of manufacturing. Our collective efforts with Booth Welsh look to transform the manufacturing sector through better utilization of people, plant processes and products to drive better profits. Now we are ready to add one more “P” into the equation—a “P” for planet and sustainability.
Being Hopeful by Working Together
We face a great sense of urgency to act and do something now about the climate crisis! As outlined, XpertRule is looking to do its part by enabling more sustainable manufacturing solutions. Together with Booth Welsh we can help companies reduce waste and support environmental regulations, including the legally binding Net Zero target of 2050.
I’m cautiously optimistic about the future but we all need to do our part. We are now seeing for the first-time, commitments from 40 countries stepping up to ending all investment in new coal power generation domestically and internationally. This is just the beginning of a new Green Industrial Revolution and we all need to do our part. I would also argue that this is the biggest challenge of our time. The economic opportunities being created to combat climate change are unprecedented. It will make the moon landing look like child’s play.
Over the next few months, I’ll have additional blog posts on the future of manufacturing. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out at icrosley@xpertrule.com.
